PARTY IN THE PARK was slightly disappointing last time, but in the hope that he returns to his previously consistent form he's the pick from Mackintosh and Wetherby Place. Jim Boyle's runner is yet to win on artificial surfaces but has done so on the turf, so whilst a recent run of second placed finishes is a concern the gelding has shown he knows how to get the job done. A mark of 55 seems perfectly fair and Matthew Davies is a capable pilot who knows the animal, so in a tricky finale he's the solid option. Mackintosh is up a pound for taking second last time and must have claims under the useful Patrick Hills. He's yet to win a race but has had just the 10 starts, so of more concern is the drop back a furlong in trip and that's enough to put us off as he looked in need of further last time. Wetherby Place should be noted for any market moves, hailing as she does from the shrewd yard of Michael Wigham. She showed little on her debut for the yard last time, but as a juvenile she promised to be a little better than this grade and connections will surely place her to good effect at some stage, with the market likely to tell us when they think they've done just that. Lopinot is closely matched with our pick on their meeting last time and should run another solid race off a reasonable mark, whilst Star Strider is back down to a mark which saw him win over course and distance in December 2008 and should make a bold bid to defy top weight. Kielty's Folly is consistent, albeit at this modest level, but his sole success came over further and he may be done for speed, so of more interest is Sovereignty who remains capable of success off this mark of 53. Our Day Will Come has a lengthy absence to overcome so is overlooked despite the booking of David Probert, whilst Bold Rose will surely struggle to get the mile and Stanley Goodspeed might also be better at shorter distances. This is a trappy end to the card and stakes are best kept small, but our preference is for the largely consistent Party In The Park.
