Verdict

The Hannon yard has won two of the last three renewals including with the high-class Toormore in 2013. VIREN'S ARMY sports the same colours as the latter and may be good enough to make a winning start. Rockcliffe improved when stepped up to 6f at Newbury last time and Thaqaffa is also expected to appreciate today's longer distance after a modest effort over the minimum trip. King's Pavilion is out of a prolific mare but fellow newcomer War Department, a 160,000gns purchase and half-brother to winners in Italy, makes more appeal.
