    Verdict

Royal Marskell has done most of his racing on artificial surfaces over the last couple of years but shaped really well the last twice on what seems a belated return to turf. A mid-division finish in a hot staying handicap at York won by Saigon City was followed by sixth to Dannyday in the Northumberland Plate consolation race. He's actually been dropped 4lb on turf and is very interesting, although now asked to drop half a mile in trip. Royal Toast enjoyed a consistent three-year-old season and will have needed his first run for over nine months when reappearing at Sandown. He hasn't won over this far but has to be respected on the best of last season's form. The choice though is MUKHAYYAM (NAP) as he's been running with credit in some decent races and is far better than his form figures might suggest. He was unlucky in the Cumberland Plate when denied a clear run and should appreciate this drop in grade, especially having been dropped 2lb for his latest fourth place finish at Ripon.
