        Verdict

        ROYAL EMPIRE couldn't get to grips with the winner over 1m2f at Sandown earlier this month but had won his maiden with a bit to spare over today's trip at Lingfield before that. He can return to winning ways here, probably at the chief expense of Discoverer. The latter went close in soft ground last time and had earlier recorded a double on the Polytrack and is just preferred to top weight Weapon Of Choice. Everybody Knows has the past form to figure but hasn't raced for over two years and while Little Black Book had Fantasy Gladiator behind over C&D last week this is tougher.
