Stepped up in trip and handicapping for the first time, POPPY N'PENNY looks likely to be able to give a good account, while Just The Tonic may have some impact and both Wasmi and Volatilis are respected. Suffice it to say that this is not a strong nursery with the top-rated just 70 and the William Haggas-trained selection may be well handicapped for her first run in this sphere from a mark of just 63. The extra furlong is a definite plus, the yard remains in good form and with holes to pick in the others we'll take her. Just The Tonic has been tried previously over 7f without success, though she did run well on a couple of occasions. She was a beaten odds-on favourite in a Redcar seller last time and has now been dropped 9lbs by the assessor, so she could emerge as a major player. Wasmi looked handicapped to the hilt on her own debut in this type of race at Lingfield last time, but the return to an artificial surface plus the step back up in trip can see her to better effect. Volatilis did not quite see out 6f last time but pedigree suggests that he should see out this trip eventually, although he does have a bit to prove after that Brighton effort. Marafong hit some form last time and from the same mark he should get competitive over this trip, while Proper Littlemadam is likely to show us much more now handicapping. We'll take Poppy N'Penny to score.
