    Verdict

Emperors Jade, with Jamie Spencer booked for the ride, is the obvious one, while Firespin and Tension Mounts are expected to be waiting in the wings if the selection fails to deliver the expected goods. Tension Mounts has been mainly consistent in five previous starts and is entitled to win a small prize before too long. However, he is also looking exposed and needs everything to go his way. Firespin showed a huge amount of improvement at Lingfield three weeks ago and will be a big threat if dishing out a repeat dose. He is one to bear in mind for a minor handicap after this and can be placed to good effect. However, Emperors Jade makes the most appeal for the time being. The son of Averti was a close second to one of Sir Mark Prescott¿s, who has subsequently carried a mark of 83 to victory; so his form looks solid at this stage. Added to that, is the suggestion that the booking of the joint champion jockey means connections are leaving no stones unturned. So this looks an ideal time to climb on board with the Emperors Jade team.
