Ed Dunlop's Go Between is taken to make a winning debut in the opening event, with Scarlet Empress best of those to have raced so far. Go Between cost 100,000gns and is a half-sister to Wunders Dream, so should be capable of making an early impact before lining up in her intended target, the Watership Down Stud Sales race at Ascot in September. Kieren Fallon has been booked to ride so connections obviously mean business, and she has nothing to fear from her rivals based on evidence so far. Scarlet Empress did not get the run of the race on her Newbury debut behind the useful Voile, and being well related to the likes of Ya Malak and Dominio on the dam's side, will make up into a speedy sprinter herself in time. On this occasion though, she will have to play second fiddle to the potentially useful Go Between who gets the vote.
