It may only have been a seller that Talarive won at Sedgefield earlier this month but Peter Niven's gelding won with plenty in hand and is taken to defy his penalty at the main expense of Mr Bigglesworth and Bramantino. The selection has been dropped 3lbs since his Sedgefield success so with a 7lb penalty is effectively only 4lbs higher now and he looks worth following to win again. Course and distance novice winner Diamond Mick has failed to live up to expectations since being switched into handicaps and is probably best watched, while Kempski looks to have plenty of weight for what he has achieved. Peter Monteith's Bridge Pal is a consistent performer in this grade and can be expected to run his usual good race. He rates a bigger threat than Newcastle winner Silver Sedge, who struggled under his new mark at Musselburgh last time. Richard Guest's Mr Bigglesworth may have found the going too testing at Towcester last time and is sure to have his supporters on the evidence of his previous run in a handicap when narrowly beaten by Impulsive Bid at Uttoxeter. Tim Fitzgerald's Lawgiver is lightly raced although more solid claims are probably held by Richard Fahey's Bramantino, who is relatively unexposed over hurdles but is improving with every outing. Talarive was hardly winning out of turn at Sedgefield though and is taken to follow up.
