Jackem showed improved form when beating Be Upstanding (close second at Kelso on Thursday) at Leicester last month and is taken to defy a 9lb rise in the weights with Maxie McDonald and Kelantan rated the main dangers. The selection has been lightly raced in recent seasons and there may be more to come from the Ian Williams-trained gelding even at the age of 11. Kelantan has run well in both his starts this term and while Kim Bailey's stable has been rather quiet this term they are running better now so he has to be respected. Top weight Maxie McDonald has paid the penalty for his consistency and the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained gelding may have too much to do giving weight away all round. The handicapper has given Angel Delight a chance, while Jamerosier ran better last time and is another worthy of a mention. Isard Du Buard and Star Time are others to consider but preference is for Jackem, who is taken to follow up his recent success.
