Verdict
The third of the races on the six-race card restricted to just fillies can go to Bettys Pride, but you could make a case for a number of the others. The selection hails from Alan Berry's now in-form stable and, although 4lbs higher than for the second of her two career wins at Thirsk last August, the handicapper is starting to relent and, from a mark of 78, she can go well. Tim Easterby's My American Beauty also holds chances despite running off topweight. Six pounds higher than for her last win, she has run well without winning from revised marks and the first-time eyeshield could also help her. Columbine is weighted to get the better of Le Meridien based on their Beverley runs earlier in the month but, in reality, it should be close between them and they come here in good heart. Tancred Times has gained three of her 13 career wins at this track but is now rated towards the top end of what she has achieved, so a place is possibly the best she can hope for. Safranine won here on soft last June so, from a three-pound lower mark, a case can be made for her. The bottom two are racing from well out of the handicap. An interesting affair but Bettys Pride can continue Alan Berry's recent good form.
