Fairly uninspiring stuff to start off proceedings on the heavy ground with not too much quality in depth. David Evans' Top Of The Class is a standing dish at Hamilton and was well backed last time out in similar conditions. She is more than capable of handling heavy conditions but she has yet to conclusively suggest that she is able to handle the trip. Marakabei was a recent winner of a very moderate contest at Ripon on soft ground. A five pound rise for that victory looks harsh under the circumstances. On old form, Healey would be "chucked in" off his current mark but he has yet to rediscover his two-year-old form and is far from certain to appreciate today's trip on all recent evidence. Strictly Speaking makes the long trip up from Paul Cole's stable and cannot be discounted in such a lowly event. It is true that he has been disappointing of late but when he has encountered a softer surface in the past, he has not been disgraced and he should be capable of going when others have cried enough. Its interesting that Mick Easterby has sent Stonegrave up to Hamilton and in a field where many are exposed, she is given the Teamtalk nod of approval. Cannily placed over shorter trips in the past, the horse is off a mark of 46 and as a Selkirk filly she should be capable of handling the prevailing conditions.
