      Verdict

      Wajeez beat three subsequent winners when romping home in a maiden race at Nottingham in November. But he hasn’t raced since and STEEL OF MADRID looks a safer bet. The latter won a Listed race over 1m2f at Newmarket before finishing fourth to Hawkbill in a Group 3 at Ascot and an entry in the Great Voltigeur next month suggests he’ll stay this longer trip. Andrew Balding’s charge is preferred to stablemate Ormito while Ventura Storm is another Listed winner well beaten in Group races of late. Percy Street won a handicap last month but has come up short in this grade before and Montsarrat is another winning handicapper stepping up in class. Carrington made a winning return at Doncaster but has struggled since and steps up in distance from a mile.
