Verdict
Stepping up in trip, Ravenglass is the selection to get the better of Spectrometer and Tandava. Formerly with John Gosden, the selection put up his best effort of the season in defeat last time out when narrowly beaten in a race at Bath. A winner over a mile and a half on his penultimate start, this extra furlong should pose no problems and with the drying ground in his favour he holds every chance of gaining his second win of the season. Spectrometer, a classy hurdler on his day, is likely to be using this race as a pipe-opener before heading to York next week where he won a big handicap last season at a fancy price. He has changed stables since his last run and this drop in trip should be to his liking and despite the ground holding no fears his lack of a recent run is a concern. Tandava is not the most consistent of horses but has ability and ran creditably on his penultimate start. Another who will relish this trip and ground, he could be the horse for the forecast but is not one to trust with the Christmas Club money. Topweight Ravenglass is the call, then, in what is a trappy little contest to round off the evening.
