First Show can get the better of Star Magnitude, with Kingsholm, Acomb and topweight Humble Opinion respected. First Show ran another sound race when beaten a neck by Wavertree Warrior at Windsor in April, and as that was only his third outing of the year, he should now be spot on. Jeremy Noseda's colt was successful at the Berkshire track last October, and should really have followed up at Newmarket next time, but he threw away his chance by drifting right across the track, allowing Davenport to go past and beat him. That at least showed that he can handle cut in the ground, and he should at least gain revenge over that rival this afternoon. Star Magnitude has been in good form on the all-weather, but has yet to get anywhere near to matching the exploits of his full-brother Observatory. He should make his presence felt here though along with Kingsholm who has raced a bit too freely since returning to the fray. A little more restraint could see him in the shake-up. Acomb has failed to get competitive of late but is reasonably handicapped, while Humble Opinion has to prove that he handles the ground and in addition has topweight. Our vote goes to First Show.
