STIFF UPPER LIP never got into the race at Epsom last time but his debut fifth at Salisbury is the best piece of form on offer. The Hannon colt gets the nod to open his account here with Richard Hughes on board for the first time. Neither Master Ming nor Velvetina threatened on their respective debuts at Sandown and Newbury but both should finish closer in this company with preference for the former. It's harder to fancy either Complexity or Xerxes, however, and they may be best watched for now.
Complexity 9-2 (9-3) Green in early stages and towards rear, some headway halfway, no impression when ran green and hung left 2f out, 10th of 13, 11l behind Rafale (9-3) at Bath 6f 2yo mdn aut (6) fm in Jul.
Master Ming (IRE) 66-1 (9-3) Always behind, 12th of 15, 9l behind Kerbaaj (9-3) at Sandown 7f 2yo mdn (5) gd in Jul.
Stiff Upper Lip (IRE) 11-2 (9-3) Always behind, never a factor, 6th of 8, 12l behind Whipper's Boy (9-3) at Epsom Downs 7f 2yo mdn (5) gs in Jul.

Velvetina (IRE) 25-1 (9-0) Slowly away, green in rear, headway when very green and not much room entering final 2f, kept on inside final furlong, may do better, 6th of 10, 9l behind Ollie Olga (9-0) at Newbury 6f 2yo stks (4) gs in Jul.
