Northern Surprise completed a double on the track at the backend of last year but hasn't been going as well on Turf this summer. He's still joint top-rated here with SEANIE but the latter has bounced back to form after a long lean spell and deserved last month's victory over 7f here after several strong performances. He'll never get back to his heyday when attaining a mark of 103 but should be good enough for this. Yamato carried a big weight to a course and distance victory in a handicap here in September so tonight's burden shouldn't cause too much of a problem but Il Piccolo Grande took advantage of heavy ground at Navan and hasn't been placed in four all-weather starts. Midnitemudcrabs was well supported to land a similar contest over 7f here last week where, after making most, he battled on gamely to regain the advantage close home.
