In depth

Verdict

EMPIRE LEVANT ran green when made favourite on his debut over hurdles at Newbury but those that finished in front that day are probably decent and Paul Nicholls' French import will have learned from the experience - he is fancied to recoup losses here. Franklino chased home the well-regarded Local Hero over C&D on his latest start, his best effort to date, and looks the main danger as Palawi is penalised for his win at Haydock in October and though he was out of his depth at Cheltenham next time he ran well on the all-weather earlier this month. The others have plenty to prove.
