Verdict

Spectrometer has proved a useful dual purpose performer and added to last year's successes over hurdles when overcoming trouble in running to land a competitive handicap at York last month. The Philip Hobbs-trained gelding looks sure to go well again having been raised 4lb but looks worth opposing at the likely cramped odds. Solo Flight looks held on the York form despite being 5lb better off for a beating of four and a half lengths. The Barry Hills-trained five year old may prove vulnerable under top weight so preference is for Royal Cavalier. Reg Hollinshead's charge is an autumn campaigner as he showed when securing the November Handicap here last term and looked to be on the way back judged on his most recent effort when a close runner-up behind the well treated Dune at Haydock last week. Solomon's Mine is a consistent type and rates a danger after suffering a narrow defeat over this trip at York last time despite being 3lb higher.
