A minefield for punters and a stiff gallop over 6f on rain-softened ground might just spark KAPTAIN KIRKUP back into life. Ryan Moore may be a signicant booking for the mount on the Captain Rio colt, who has struggled of late, but who landed a decent 7f handicap at York's May meeting. Three times a winner over this trip last year we will side with him. Medicean Man will enjoy the slower ground and a strong gallop. He could go well at a price, while Ripon Listed winner Damika has claims from this mark as connections feel that she is best with some ease in the ground, although the yard is a bit quiet. Citrus Star is an obvious contender and already has a good effort over course and distance to his name on good to soft, though the handicapper is seriously testing him now. Mr David will find this easier than recent Group contests, while Spring Mile winner Irish Heartbeat relishes cut and races with enough speed to suggest that he will also be heavily involved.
