Verdict

LAYFAYETTE landed this a year ago, the middle-leg of a hat-trick, though he's carrying a Group 2 penalty for landing the Moorebridge Stakes on this track where he had Visualisation a couple of lengths behind. He goes well fresh and will love the conditions so gets the vote. The latter made a winning reappearance on heavy ground at Naas when Self Belief, who was having just his fourth start, was just over three lengths behind. Point Lonsdale won his first four races as a two-year-old and was one of the favourites for the 2000 Guineas but was well beaten and hasn't run subsequently. He has multiple Group entries while Piz Badile, who has made a winning start in both campaigns to date and finished second to Westover in the Irish Derby, hasn't raced on testing ground.
