The Godolphin-owned Balefire made a promising debut at Leopardstown in October and was made a short-priced favourite on his reappearance at Dundalk but gave trouble at the start and was never in the hunt. He should do better as should California Daddy, runner-up four times before failing to stay 1m2f here last month. Fulvio, who cost $150,000 and is related to several winners in the USA, was beaten a long way on his debut but should do well in his second campaign. Pocotaligo disappointed on ground with some give over 7f at Gowran after a better run over this trip at Navan but the vote goes to ZARANDI, who found dropping back to 7f against him here after showing promise at Leopardstown.
