With little public form to scrutinise, this is not a race to get too heavily involved in, but Soul Provider has the best credentials, and is selected ahead of Shalamak and the newcomers, Spring Breeze and Eight Ellington. The selection ran well on her debut, staying on late in the day to finish fifth at Warwick behind arguably the best juvenile filly seen so far this season, La Cucuracha. Ian Wood's filly followed that up with a second place behind another fair sort in Fortunately, and could just about be good enough to get off the mark here. Shalamak was relatively unfancied when last of five on her debut at Sandown, but should improve on that, while of the newcomers in the field the ones that make particular appeal are Mick Channon's nicely-bred Spring Breeze and also Eight Ellington. The latter is trained by Fulke Johnson Houghton, who won this race last year with none other than subsequent Dewhurst winner Tout Seul, so it would be no surprise if this one turned out to be quite smart.
