In depth

Verdict

Ocean Pride is bound to be popular with backers, following his third of five behind Don't Tell Sue at Newbury first time out, but Richard Hannon's colt is unlikely to represent much in terms of value and it may be worth taking a chance with one of the newcomers with the vote going to Rod Millman's Montzando, who gets the vote over Spunger. The last mentioned is a daughter of Fraam and represents the stable of Ralph Beckett that is quite capable of producing one to win first time up so a market move for her would be of interest. Bay Diamond, a stablemate of Ocean Pride, is also by Fraam and is another to consider along with Valentine Jak. The last mentioned comes from the yard of Rod Millman that has done so well with their juveniles this term, although jockey bookings suggest that Montzando is the better fancied of the pair. The selection is a speedily bred son of Forzando and makes more appeal than Fulke Johnson Houghton's Tous Les Deux, who may want further.
