Last year’s winner of this trial went on to win the main event and several are currently big prices for the Welsh National. That list includes Colorado Doc, who finished runner-up at Newbury last week, but RUN TO MILAN will be sharper for last month’s outing at Exeter. Not beaten far in third despite a mistake at the last, Vic Dartnall’s charge should go close again. Eclair Surf was still going well when falling at Bangor on his reappearance and also has a shout along with the returning St Barts. Truckers Lodge was well beaten in last season’s Welsh National but Supreme Escape represents last year’s winning yard and could figure. Ami Desbois, One For Rosie and Laskalin are not yet entered for the big one later in the month though the latter is in a Listed race at Ascot and better is expected from him.
