Bermeo won this in 2020 but was pulled up by Aine O’Connor last year when Super Citizen was sixth and Madera Mist, twice a winner on this track, was only ninth. Light Flicker has a good strike-rate over fences and had a pipe-opener over hurdles last month while Anightinlambourn is on a hat-trick after a couple of wins at Worcester. Huntsmans Jog goes well fresh but there wouldn’t be much between the eight-year-old and THE NEWEST ONE on their 1-2 at Doncaster last season and the latter still has a bit of scope. This does look wide-open, however, and Jimmy The Digger is another with solid claims if fully primed while Centurion Steel could figure if he lasts home. On Springs has been well placed to win four of his last five and Jony Max, Powerful Position, Go On Chez and Cardboard Gangster are others to consider but Old Town Garde faces no easy task under joint top weight.
