Yankeedoodledandy has taken really well to the winter game and can enhance his Triumph Hurdle claims by completing a hat-trick at the expense of Regal Setting, with Napolitain the other major player. Yankeedoodledandy turned into a useful middle-distance horse on the all-weather, winning three times in all, but has looked even better since being sent over hurdles. Pat Haslam's inmate impressed with the manner of his victory at Sandown, leading three out and coming right away from Verasi, and then showed that he has a heart as well as he battled back on the run-in to master New Entic at Huntingdon next time. We think that he looks much better going left-handed and so he has plenty going for him today. Regal Setting picked up a couple of staying events for Sir Mark Prescott before duly landing the odds on his hurdles debut at Catterick. Described as a lazy sort at home, he obviously has bags of potential, but at the likely odds, is worth taking on at this stage of his career. Napolitain was well beaten by the selection at Huntingdon and will need a faster pace to have a chance of turning things round, and we shall remain loyal to Yankeedoodledandy.
