In depth

Verdict

Both Richard Fahey and John Gosden are double handed here. The former is represented by Ruby Shield, who is by War Front out of a Galileo mare and will have benefited from her run at Doncaster, while Scherzo made a very pleasing debut over a mile at Newcastle where she was staying on at the finish. Gosden runs Lake Lucerne, who badly missed the break on her debut here in December before staying on, and the newcomer Margueritedevalois, whose dam has produced winners with her first two foals. Michael Bell runs FESTIVE LOVE, by Frankel out of an Italian Group 1 winner, and she was only beaten narrowly on her debut at Kempton last month despite not getting a clear run so compensation awaits. Mark Johnston's My Girl Maggie, a 70,000gns daughter of Camelot, is another interesting contender in a race that should produce plenty of future winners.
