      Verdict

This is wide-open though Captain Jameson looks no nearer winning despite a slide down the weights and the ground is worry for Thirsk runner-up Global Spirit and also Self Assessment, who went close over track and trip last month. It was soft going at Chester when Confrontational won and he’s been raised 5lb while Parys Mountain finished third in last year’s renewal but has turned in a couple of woeful efforts recently. ZIP is hard to win with but ran much better than expected in heavy going in a Class 2 contest at Redcar a fortnight ago. He could go close in this lower grade with a similar effort and makes most appeal of Richard Fahey’s three runners.
