with winner, ridden and outpaced from 2f out
made all, shaken up over 1f out, soon clear, easily
hung right throughout, pushed along to chase leaders, hampered over 4f out, chased winner over 1f out, no impression
Kirklees showed plenty of promise on her Thirsk debut last month and should improve for the run but Mark Johnston's filly may not represent much in the way of value on the evidence of just the one outing and preference is for Pires, with Centenary rated the best of the remainder. The selection has improved with each of his three starts, latterly running a very creditable fourth in the Chesham at Royal Ascot and a reproduction of that effort may well suffice back in this grade. Bollin Freddie showed little sign of ability on his debut and of more interest may be Howard Johnson's Centenary, although he is strictly held by Kirklees on Thirsk running. Pires has an obvious chance back in this grade though and he gets the vote.
