Verdict
Sowdrey can put his experience to good use to get the better of Set The Scene, Artless and Mercury Blue to name just a few. Sowdrey has had a total of six career outings to date, and although yet to score, Mick Channon's charge has shown enough to warrant support here at least. There was plenty of support for him to beat Manbar at Goodwood, and although he failed to get past that rival after being produced from off the pace, finishing second was no disgrace, as that rival had earlier been third to the highly-rated Many Volumes. The selection stays every yard of today's trip, and can finally come good. Set The Scene is going the right way, but he lacked a gear when chasing home Toccata at Warwick and might need even further, while Artless has looked nothing special so far, although he will improve from his all-weather second. Mercury Blue could be a danger as he had to be switched to challenge on his Salisbury bow, eventually finishing second to Fretwork. The longer journey here will suit, and he should be noted in the market. Newcomer Lion Ridge is by Montjeu, so the trip should not be a problem, and he too should be noted in the ring. Preference is for Sowdrey though, as he should have too much know-how today.
