Verdict

Singeur likes it around here and has reappeared in this race for the past three seasons but generally needs his opening run. Richard Fahey won the race a year ago but the winner was drawn 2 and today's representative Poweraillied, a winner at this grade at Chester in June, isn't so well berthed though should still make his presence felt. Paul Midgley has some smart sprinters in his yard and Gamesome has produced some good runs in better company than this ,though a strike-rate of 1-22 is off-putting. The lightly-raced Edward Lewis has joined David O'Meara from John Gosden and been gelded. This will be his first start over the minimum but this is a very stiff climb to the finish and he should make a bold bid to make a successful debut for new connections. LEXINGTON PLACE hails from a yard in form, has an excellent draw and loves quick ground so the 10-times winner, who finished fourth in this last year, can made a winning return as Kibaar, who finished just in front of him a year ago, has a poor draw.
