Don't Call Me remains capable of better however the vote is given to MIGHTY CLARETS ahead of the interesting duo of Whispered Times and We'll Deal Again. Richard Fahey's gelding hasn't really lasted home on his last two starts but now dropped back in trip he looks more interesting. He is only 2lbs higher than when winning at Newcastle in May and a bold bid is expected. Whispered Times romped home at Newcastle last time out when putting to bed any stamina question marks; under his 6lb penalty he is well-in at the weights but this looks a tougher race and he is reluctantly opposed. We'll Deal Again is in good form and his Tamarind Hill form reads well; if he lasts home over this longer trip then he shouldn't be far away. Jupiter Fidius is handicapped to win, Fardyieh has been highly-tried but this well-bred filly should come on plenty for her reappearance at Lingfield, whilst Christmas Light is an interesting Irish recruit for Dave O 'Meara having shown ability on all four starts last season in Ireland. Don't Call Me is better than his Doncaster flop in May and has been given time to get over it, whilst Raqeeb is fitted with a visor for the first time but on the face of it her run at Salisbury behind Sparkling Smile still looks ok. An open affair then however we will side with Mighty Clarets.
Raqeeb (USA) 9-2 (9-5) Led at decent pace, ridden and headed 2f out, soon beaten, lost 2nd inside final furlong, 3rd of 6, 5l behind Sparkling Smile (9-4) at Salisbury 1m 2f 3yo hcp 0-80 (4) gf in Jun.
