Verdict
A poor contest filled with mainly out-of-form animals, and Mabel Riley, one of two runners for Brian Meehan, is a rather tentative selection to see off the likes of Chandelier and the dropped in class Baileys Imperial. The selection, successful when last seen in this grade back in January, hasn't been disgraced in better contests of late and is now back down to 58, a mark which saw her run Promising King to 3/4s of a length in a competitive All-Weather handicap back in the winter. She is effective on this fast ground and with the return to this trip also in her favour, she looks the one to beat. Chandelier is another gradually coming down in the weights and is now down to a lower mark than when successful at Lingfield in January. He has struggled on turf this season, but this is a drop in class for him and is worthy of respect. Another runner to take a drop in class is Baileys Imperial, who is from the powerful Mark Johnston stable. He hasn't taken long to drop to this grade and is clearly one of the stables lesser lights. He showed little in first-time blinkers at Nottingham, but at this level he cannot be left out of calculations. However, Mabel Riley has a more convincing profile and does know how to win.
