tracked leaders, ridden to challenge over 1f out, soon one pace
held up, struggling halfway, soon beaten
slowly into stride, detached in rear, never dangerous
tracked leaders, led after 1f, headed 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong
chased leaders, hard driven halfway, weakened over 1f out
led 1f, remained prominent, led again 2f out, ridden clear inside final furlong, easily
It’s proving difficult to defy a penalty in these novice races and Brighton scorer Soumei has to give 12lb to the fillies Queen Of Desire and L’AGE D’OR. Roger Varian’s charge has been placed the last twice, including once here, but she doesn’t appear to have a change of gear so preference is for Bob Cowell’s daughter of Iffraaj, who was in the lead at this trip when third last time on Polytrack. Be Be King showed improvement last time at Kempton but is not certain to appreciate the drop back to 5f.
