ALEXANDROS heads the short-list from Charlie Farnsbarns and Banknote. Saeed Bin Suroor has sent out five winners from just twenty three runners this month and boasts a similar strike rate at this track. Alexandros has yet to open his account for the boys in blue but he has run some fine races in defeat, including when narrowly beaten in a similar affair at Doncaster last time; the race conditions appear to be ideal for him and he should get the run of the race. Charlie Farnsbarns performed creditably in the Cambridgeshire and had previously run well in defeat in a Group 3 but the concession of 9lbs to the selection over a trip that may be on the short side for him these days may prove to be beyond him. Banknote would be feared more but for the ground conditions. It was disappointing that he didn't fare better on his two runs earlier in the year at a track where he has excelled in the past. He has run adequately on soft in the past but is more at home on a faster surface and may find this race too competitive with conditions not ideal despite it representing a drop in class. One or two of the remainder could pop up but all have too many questions to answer to make them reliable propositions and Alexandros is readily preferred.
