In depth

Verdict

Lucinda Russell’s yard has been in the doldrums but Big River only found one too good at Kelso off today’s mark on his handicap debut and should have more to offer. LOUGH DERG WALK hasn’t been seen since landing a maiden at Bangor and a novice event at Catterick at the start of last year but Donald McCain is more than capable of getting one ready at home and it would be no surprise to see the seven-year-old complete a long-range hat-trick. Top Billing and Little Glenshee are previous course winners but both are out of sorts. Pistol may be a few pounds too high on his return while French import Firstymini has his first start for Mike Smith following a lengthy absence.
