Buachaill Dona, Dig Deep and Fantasy Believer form the short list in a very competitive sprint, with the selection being Dig Deep. Dig Deep comes here as a fairly lightly-raced sprinter that is on the up. His penalty for a decisive course and distance win last time will not, in our view, stop him from running well today. Buchaill Dona could well have been targeted at this and he hails from a stable that has done well in the race. He may be fragile but he is also talented and he might be able to defy being five pounds above a winning mark. Fantasy Believer also gets a good mention as he is on a competitive mark, tends to come to hand at this time of the season and that was the impression left on his latest start. It is good to see The Tatling getting back to form and he could go well, while Hogmaneigh is lightly-raced enough to be given some thought despite having been raised five pounds for his latest win. Tabaret was beaten a whisker in a Newmarket handicap last time and remains competitive, while One More Round won a valuable Windsor handicap last July from a pound lower mark than today and a good run would not be a surprise. Woodcote is on a winning course and distance mark from October 2006, although that came on good to soft going, and Orpsie Boy comes here as a progressive sprinter seeking a four-timer. Even though he is up five pounds for his latest win, he is entitled to respect. Gallery Girl was beaten a whisker by Fullandby last time and, clearly in good heart, could go well, while Hoh Hoh Hoh was a very good second over course and distance last time and, given that he is due to go up by four pounds in future ratings, has to be given serious thought today. The selection, though, is Dig Deep.
