Verdict

Lil Rockerfeller’s suspect fencing caught up with him at Cheltenham last week and it will be put under even greater pressure dropping back in trip. VINNDICATION (NAP) remains unbeaten under Rules and made a smooth transition to chasing at Carlisle. This is a tougher task and he had to be ridden out in the closing stages at the Cumbrian track but can be expected to be much straighter today and he has bags of scope. Jerrysback produced a 50/1 shock at Bangor but there appeared to be no fluke about the result, though he finished tailed off behind Count Meribel at Cheltenham earlier and the latter had also won at Carlisle the time before.

Formwatch

Count Meribel 4-1 (11-7) Tracked leader, upsides 3 out, led narrowly when blundered badly and headed next, soon ridden, regained narrow lead flat, edged left, just held on, won at Cheltenham 2m 4f (2) gd in Nov beating Le Breuil (11-7) by nk, 7 ran.

Lil Rockerfeller (USA) 2-1 (11-9) Tracked winner, jumped right 1st, mistake and unseated rider 2nd, at Cheltenham 3m 1f (2) gd in Dec.

Jerrysback (IRE) 50-1 (11-0) Held up, headway 9th, tracked leaders, ridden 3 out, left 2nd at last, stayed on to lead towards finish, won at Bangor 2m 4f (4) sft in Dec beating Mulcahys Hill (11-0) by 1l, 9 ran.

Vinndication (IRE) Evensfav (11-2) Always prominent, led after 3rd, headed 4 out, led again after next, strongly challenged before last, hard driven, ran on well, won at Carlisle 2m 4f (3) sft in Nov beating Uncle Alastair (11-2) by 2l, 13 ran.
