Verdict

John Gosden has won three of the last five renewals but Maverick Wave was behind runner-up Fire Fighting at the All-Weather Championships at Lingfield in March. The latter was third in this last year but stablemate Revolutionist is preferred having completed a double last month with a success at Redcar. Best Of Times and Oceanographer represent Godolphin and both should be sharper for recent reappearances though the latter’s stablemate Second Wave has not raced since winning at Wolverhampton in December. Ballydoyle’s Sir Isaac Newton has slipped down the weights but Maleficent Queen has been raised 10lb having landed a five-timer with her latest success in Listed company at Ayr. PACIFY has gone close in both starts so far this year and just failed at York last time giving plenty of weight to the winner. Ralph Beckett’s charge may come out best in this in a first-time visor. Our Channel was below par in a Group 3 at Sandown last time but could go well back in a handicap and is preferred to stable companion Battalion.
