High Standing won this on a fast surface in 2009 and though he's yet to show his best this year, he does have form on soft ground and could bounce back at a big price today. Four times a winner last season, HOOF IT continued his upward curve on his return to action at York last month. He ran out an impressive winner on that occasion and, proven in big fields with cut in the ground, Mick Easterby's charge is fancied to land this. Any further rain could be a problem for Masamah and Pastoral Player, who had four of today's rivals behind when scoring at Newmarket last month, while the admirable Listed winner Anne Of Kiev is unproven on a slow surface. The same comment applies to Victoire De Lyphar, but he's trained by Dandy Nicholls and can't be left out of calculations on that score alone, while Deacon Blues is another to consider as he's still improving and soft ground is no problem.
