Paul Carberry is to be transferred to hospital in Dublin on Monday following a successful operation on his left leg.
The veteran jump jockey was taken to Tralee Hospital after breaking his femur in a fall at Listowel on Saturday.
He underwent surgery on Saturday evening and faces a lengthy period on the sidelines.
The 41-year-old was riding Rich Coast for his boss Noel Meade in the Allman Contracts Limited Beginners Chase when they came down at the first fence.
"The surgery went very well, so the plan is to transfer him back up to Dublin tomorrow under the care of Mr Paddy Kenny. They've done a great job on him," said Dr Adrian McGoldrick, the Irish Turf Club's senior medical officer.
"He will be out for a minimum of four months."
Carberry tweeted: "Op went well. Off now three to four months, will go insane. Thanks everyone for the well wishes."
McGoldrick also revealed Robbie Power will be out for at least three weeks after suffering a back injury with a fall from Gambling Girl in the same race.
"He has a fractured spinous of his T1 vertebrae," he said.
"He had a nasty fall in the same race. He was X-rayed last evening and will be out three to four weeks."
