A round-up of the pick of the action from Brighton where Tony Carroll saddled a fantastic 2,204-1 four-timer.

Trainer Tony Carroll enjoyed an afternoon to remember at the seaside by rattling off a fantastic 2,204-1 four-timer at Brighton.

Fresh from striking gold with his only runner at Salisbury on Tuesday, the Cropthorne-based handler picked up where he left off as his first three runners of the day all came home in front.

Easydoesit (5-2 favourite) set the ball rolling in the Laines Best Selling Handicap under Adam Kirby and stable companion Pyrocumulus (5-1) followed up in the John Smith's Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy Handicap in the hands of Jim Crowley.

In the very next race Queen Aggie was a 14-1 shot to complete Carroll's hat-trick and did so with something to spare, with apprentice George Downing doing the steering.

The trainer suffered his first reverse of the day as Polydamos was never a factor in the following event, but he was back in the winner's enclosure after the Ohso Bar & Restaurant Handicap as Essaka and Crowley hit the bullseye at 6-1.

Carroll said: "We've had four in the same day before, but that was a mixture of jumps and hurdles, this is the first time I've had four on the same card. I thought the first and the last ones had chances, the two in the middle were in competitive races.

"They're all in good form and my highest-rated horse, Boom The Groom, runs at the Shergar Cup on Saturday."

He added: "He (Easydoesit) makes hard work of everything. He's plenty of ability, but he's got his own way of doing things.

"It was a tremendous ride. He runs in snatches and comes on and off the bridle, he never does anything easily.

"Maybe today might give him a bit of confidence.

"Pyrocumulus is a smashing little horse and he's surprised me all through the year really. He's just kept creeping up the weights and seems to be coping with everything we've put in front of him.

"He's a good finisher and the hill today has probably helped him. I don't really know where we go from here. We'll have to wait and see."

Kirby's triumph aboard Easydoesit was his second of the day, having earlier partnered the Charlie Appleby-trained Mansfield to a six-length success in the EBF Stallions / Cin Cin Maiden.

Kirby said: "Charlie said he'd improved a lot from his first run and that he'd show that today. He was really pleased with him, so it's nice.

"He was well behaved and did nothing wrong."

There was a surprise result to the Drink Warehouse Derby Nursery as Appleby's 4-7 favourite Bochart was touched off by rank outsider Ojai.

Dean Ivory's juvenile swooped late to get up and beat the market leader, who was unruly in the stalls, by a short head

Not many days pass without Silvestre de Sousa riding a winner and the title-chasing jockey made the journey south worthwhile aboard Weardiditallgorong in the H.T. White & Co Handicap.

The Des Donovan-trained 5-1 shot passed the post three-and-three-quarter lengths clear of Hermosa Vaquera, with favourite Nifty Kier third.
