Gosden filly could head to Ireland rather than Newmarket

John Gosden has still not decided whether to let The Fugue take her chance in the Qipco 1000 Guineas or the Pretty Polly Stakes. Winner of her only start at Newmarket to date, she came through a racecourse gallop with flying colours at Headquarters last week. However, given the stamina in her pedigree, Gosden also has the Pretty Polly Stakes as an option. "The Fugue could run in the Guineas or she could also run in the Pretty Polly," he told Racing UK. "I spoke to Lady Lloyd Webber (owner) and Simon (Marsh) the racing manager as she wasn't coming in her coat so I said we wouldn't go for a trial as it would knock her back, so we took her for a racecourse gallop. "She worked at the Craven meeting and she went really well, she worked with Starboard and I was happy with him. "We'll see. I don't think she'll want it really soft, I think she'll want nice ground. "Her mother (Twyla Tharp) got touched off a nose in the Ribblesdale when it was run at York so she's got stamina there and Dansili brings the class. "You could run her in a Guineas and we'll do what we think is right. The Pretty Polly is a good race in it's own right and as owners/breeders some would rather win the Pretty Polly than finish fourth in the Guineas."
