Moon Racer could return to action over hurdles in the new year after making a full recovery from a bout of colic.
The David Pipe-trained eight-year-old, winner of the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in 2015, was last seen finishing sixth in the Crabbie's Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in April.
"He's fine in himself. He had a bout of colic in the summer. He was treated for that and seems to have come out of it very well," co-owner Bryan Drew told At The Races.
"After the trauma of that we've got to be careful with him so he's now just starting to come back into training and all being well we'll put some entries in for him at some point in the new year.
"I would imagine we'd play to his strengths and stay hurdling. The horse has got a tremendous amount of talent over two miles.
"The main thing for now is to get him out in the new year and check if we've got the old Moon Racer back in action and then we can make a plan from there."
