A review of the rest of Saturday's meeting from Newmarket as Return Ace won for James Fanshawe.
Group-race aspirations may be taken up in the not too distant future by Return Ace following her winning reappearance in the Lloyds Commercial Banking Supporting The AHT Fillies' Handicap at Newmarket.
Sporting the colours of Helena Springfield, which will be carried by Speedy Boarding in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh, the four-year-old made light work of the testing conditions to register a first win on turf.
Having moved strongly into contention in the mile-and-a-half event the James Fanshawe-trained 11-4 shot had more than enough left in reserve to fight off the challenge Stockhill Diva by three-quarters of a length.
Fanshawe said: "I hoped she would handle the ground and it looks like she loved that, but that is easy to say now.
"She had sinus problems, that's why she has not come out for so long. It has been a great team effort to get her right.
"The main aim with her is to get some black type and she will probably stay further. I think we will be keeping her to soft ground, as she really goes on it.
"I think the Park Hill might suit her, or a race similar to that."
Winning newcomers from the yard of Sir Michael Stoute normally fall into the above-average category which is something that could apply to Taamol after his win in the Margaret Giffen Memorial Novice Stakes.
Despite showing signs of greenness late on in the seven-furlong contest when veering across the track while out in front, the 4-1 winner was not for stopping after claim a length and a half victory and provide the Newmarket handler with his first two-year-old winner of the year.
Assistant trainer James Horton said: "We always thought he is a top of the ground horse and he will be better on that.
"He was just green as he was in front a long time. He got a little bit tired and saw the grandstand which is understandable for a two-year-old when they are in front that long.
"He was ready to run and everybody was happy with him. He is a lovely big, scopey horse."
Jordan Vaughan failed to let the wet weather dampen his spirits after celebrating the first double of his career when teaming up with trainer Karl Burke to take the final two races.
The pair kicked off their brace after Percy Street (11-4) hit the target for the first time since winning a maiden at Pontefract in September with a length-and-a-half success in the Treasure Beach Hotel Supporting The AHT Handicap.
Burke said: "He is a nice horse and he handled the conditions well. I thought he ran very well at Epsom as he had four good horses in front of him and he was giving lumps of weight away.
"There is a mile-and-a-quarter race back here at the July Festival so he might come back for that."
The silks of Commonwealth Cup heroine Quiet Reflection were given another outing in the winner's enclosure after Little Lady Katie (5-1) bounced back to form to complete Vaughan and Burke's double with a seven-length win in the Betsi Golden Mile EBF Stallions Fillies Handicap.
Vaughan said: "She is so generous. She pricked her ears in the final furlong and just quickened away from them.
"It's great to get my first double like this and it has made the long journey worth it. It feels brilliant."
