Recorder ruled out of 2000 Guineas

Recorder could miss the whole of 2016 with the effects of an injury sustained after winning the Acomb Stakes at York.
An immaculately-bred son of Galileo, out of high-class dam Memory, Recorder's defeat of the hotly-touted Bing Bang Bong saw him emerge as a possible Classic candidate for this year and Sky Bet had been quoting him for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas at 33/1.
But speaking to Matt Chapman on At The Races on Monday evening, Haggas revealed that the extent of the injury to the colt, owned by The Queen, had in fact been known about for some time.
"I told John Warren about four or five months ago and he told Her Majesty the news," he said. "It's very sad, but it looks like he will miss at least the first six months of this year and we're looking at making a decision as to whether we give the whole of 2016 a miss and look to come back as a four-year-old.
"The next forfeit stage for the 2000 Guineas isn't until March, but I've already taken him out of the race."
Air Force Blue heads the betting market at even-money for the 2000 Guineas with Sky Bet.
