Portsmouth 1-1 Stevenage: Late woe for hosts
Wednesday 21 October 2015 07:35, UK
Substitute Brett Williams rescued a point for Stevenage with a glancing stoppage-time header which earned the visitors a 1-1 draw and denied Portsmouth a return to the top of Sky Bet League 2.
Pompey looked to have won it on the strength of a 77th-minute strike by teenager Conor Chaplin, but in the fourth minute of added time, Charlie Lee hurled a long throw into the goalmouth, where Williams looped a header in for a dramatic equaliser.
It was frustrating for Portsmouth, who called the tune throughout, but Stevenage battled hard for a deserved share of the spoils.
Chaplin, an 18-year old academy graduate, put Pompey ahead in the 77th minute - little more than five minutes after coming on.
Chaplin, who is believed to be interesting Liverpool, gave Stevenage defender Fraser Franks the slip before beating goalkeeper Jesse Joronen at the near post.

Until then Pompey floundered against a tactically assured Stevenage, who lined up with two banks of four.
Gary Roberts missed two earlier chances for Pompey, who were left to reflect on what might have been when Williams headed Stevenage level in the dying seconds.
