Yeovil's relegation worries intensified as they had defender Adel Gafaiti sent off en route to a 2-0 defeat at Crewe.
The Glovers' winless run now stretches to eight games after Gafaiti's straight red card, following an off-the-ball incident which left veteran defender Nicky Hunt sprawling, put paid to their second-half improvement.
Neale Marmon's side were in trouble early on at Gresty Road when Bevis Mugabi and Omar Sowunmi left the ball for each other on the edge of their box, allowing Callum Ainley to set up Charlie Kirk to finish into the far corner in the fourth minute.
Yeovil's threat in the first half was restricted to Alex Fisher's glancing header which flew a yard past the far post.
But they stepped it up after the break and Sessi D'Almeida tested debutant Will Jaaskelainen at the keeper's near post.

Kirk had a goal chalked off for offside before Jaaskelainen excelled, tipping over Tristan Abrahams' blast from 20 yards.
Crewe seized on Gafaiti's dismissal and midfielder Tom Lowery tapped in from close range for his first senior goal in the 65th minute.
Ryan Seager went close to reducing the arrears with a snapshot but Crewe could have had more, with substitute Oliver Finney side-footing wide and Kirk having a volley pushed away by Nathan Baxter and curling a late effort past the post.
Yeovil finished with nine men on the pitch after Alex Pattison hobbled off in stoppage time.
