New signing Devante Cole came off the bench to score a dramatic goal and give Bradford their first win of the season - 1-0 against Port Vale at Valley Parade.
The match was heading for a goalless draw when a long ball out of defence from Rory McArdle found Cole in the six-yard area and the son of former Newcastle and Manchester United striker Andrew Cole, signed from Manchester City on Friday, turned it into net.
Vale dominated the first half, causing some anxious moments in the Bantams defence, their best effort coming in the third minute when goalkeeper Ben Williams was forced to dive full-length to keep out a 20-yard shot from midfielder Sam Foley.
However, Bradford were a different team in the second half, putting the Vale defence under pressure for the first time in the match.
They came close to scoring in the 72nd minute when smart interplay between substitutes Josh Morris and Billy Knott ended with the former sending in a low shot which goalkeeper Jak Alnwick did well to stop with his legs.
Then, in the last minute of normal time, Mark Marshall, playing against his old club, saw a goalbound shot turned away by Alnwick, only for Cole to pounce shortly afterwards.
