Atletico Madrid continued their resurgence after securing a comfortable 3-0 home win over Huesca on Tuesday.
First-half goals from Antoine Griezmann, Thomas Partey and Koke put Atletico in complete control, and they saw out the match to move up to third in the table, two points off joint-leaders Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Diego Simeone's side were comfortable as they recorded a third consecutive win in all competitions, with all three goals coming in the opening 35 minutes.
The hosts, who rested Saul Niguez, Rodrigo and Juanfran ahead of this weekend's derby against Real Madrid, lost defender Jose Maria Gimenez to injury in a dominant first-half performance.
Griezmann tapped in from close range after 16 minutes, before Partey's powerful long-range effort doubled their lead on the half hour.
Less than five minutes later, Koke scored a fortunate third as his lofted pass was missed by both team-mate Angel Correa and the onrushing Huesca goalkeeper Axel Werner.
Elsewhere, Rayo Vallecano had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Real Sociedad after Willian Jose's 78th-minute equaliser for the hosts.
Jon Bautista put Sociedad in front after just five minutes before Luis Advincula levelled 25 minutes later.
Oscar Trejo put the visitors in front from the penalty spot, but Jose struck deep into the second half to ensure the points were shared.
Meanwhile, Espanyol moved up to fifth place after a 1-0 win home over Eibar.
Mario Hermoso scored the only goal 68 minutes into the match as Eibar remain 11th position following their third defeat of the campaign.
